Why all these questions?

Australia’s Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Laws

From 1 July 2026, conveyancers must comply with Australia’s Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing laws. This means the settlement process now includes additional checks at the beginning of your matter.

We are required to confirm your identity, understand who is involved in the transaction and, in some circumstances, ask about matters such as the purpose of the transaction, beneficial ownership or the source of funds.

These requirements apply across the conveyancing industry and are designed to help protect clients and property transactions from fraud, identity theft, money laundering and other financial crime.

To help make the process as straightforward as possible, we will request some basic information from you before providing a secure Livesign link to collect the initial information and complete the required identity and AML checks. As these checks must be completed at the beginning of the matter, we recommend completing the Livesign request promptly so that we can commence your settlement work without unnecessary delay.
